Mumbai based brand has setup three outlets in Pune. IceKraft, crafting happiness is known for their Gothic black ice cream. The goth culture is now reflected in the ice creams as well. So all the black lovers Ice Kraft is where you would definitely like to visit. Know that when you have the black charcoal ice cream you’re in for a surprise because the ice cream is black but has a hint of the orange flavour which only works in the favour of it.

IceKraft’s Black magic is spreading fast among the foodies and the youngsters. This is one of the very unique ice-cream which has activated edible charcoal in it. Along with Ice-cream they have lot many thing to offer, like Nutella Freaky shake, waffles, pancakes, fries, different types of corn based dishes, some healthy salads and sandwiches. So its a one stop destination for the all the age group.

The B Team was invited for the tasting some of their Snacks and the of-course the Black Ice Cream.

The Hurricane Fries: Its a Twisted/tornado Potato fried and drizzled with flavour of your liking which are mentioned in the menu. It was nice and crisp till the end.

Zucchini Fries: Crunchy with soft steamed zucchini inside sprinkled with their secret spices. Something really hard to find in a regular cafes.

Sweet Potato Fries: It had sweet and spicy taste to it which made this stand out from the regular masala fries.

Crinkle Cut Fries: Nice big chunky pieces with the similar masala sprinkled on it which was on the sweet potato fries, this made bit difficult to differentiate between the both. Although you have different option of sprinkles to choose from like Herbed, Paprika, Cheesy, Chaat and Pepper.

Steamed Corn with Pepper: This was the taste changer dish from the course which was served till now. Hot and spiced up with Pepper golden corns tossed with butter.

Desserts:

Coffee based Absolute Chocolate Freak Shake: This had a coffee base, Oreo, Nutella, brownies, choco-chips and hot fudge, it was one of the messy shake I have ever eaten. Once it is placed on your table you should stop counting your calories intake. This was really nice in taste, but mind it, you will have to share it!!! Its huge!!

Chocolate Pancake: Moving on to a much decent and well plated item from the menu was this Pancake. Nice hot pancake is soaked in Chocolate syrup.

Waffle with Black Ice Cream: This was out of the menu. generally they serve it with the regular waffle but just for us the owner wanted us to try it out and give the feedback. As the waffle was hot the Ice cream was melting and it got messy by the time we tried to capture some amazing pictures.

Black Monster: This was as usual the star of the evening, Black Waffle cone with steel grey with Activated Charcoal Ice-cream with some shredded Choco-chips sprinkled on it. Wow this the first expression come in when the ice-cream was served. There was bee line for capturing the best picture of it. It altogether a different experience to have it. It was perfectly sweetened and had a very earthy taste to it.

A big shout out to Ishita for inviting us and Mohit and Team Icekraft for hosting us.

The Dream Kitchen – Reviewed

The Dream Kitchen is situated on 8th floor in Konark Icon Magarpatta. The restaurant has a Dhaba style setup with overlooking the lush green surroundings of the complex. It has a semi open kitchen which gives us a open feeling while enjoying the food.

Recently I was Invited for the tasting of their delicacies.

We started with some nice and thick Punjabi Lassi followed by some mouth watering appetisers.

Appetisers:

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks: A very unique appetiser, googy cheese stuffed with shallow fried coating with with home made punjabi spices. Very nicely plated.

Afgani Chaap: Chaap is the minced soya which is also called as false meat for the vegetarians. TDK has many such varieties of Chaap to offer. This was Moist and creamy in taste. Not too spicy not too bland perfect taste.

Dahi de Sholay: This is another gem from the TDK, Main ingredient s the hung curd mixed with finely chopped veggies which are stuffed in a coating. Taste the best when you have it hot and it was nicely plated.

Chatpati Chaap: One more unique dish, slightly chewy but nice mixed taste of chaat and the spices gave a nice tingling taste on the taste buds.

Mains:

Chaap Rogan Josh : This a Vegetarian version of Mutton Rogan Josh. Minced Soya is cooked with the home made authentic ground spices, which gives the gravy nice brown colour and the aroma is also very nice.

TDK Sp. Paneer: This subji is gravy is rich as well as spicy with Mouth melting paneer chunks along with finely chopped veggies. This is a must have in the mains. This is the creation of the owner himself as he is chef by profession.

Dal Makhani: Its Slow cooked overnight dal. Perfect in thickness and the rich in aroma.

Three types of breads were served as per the Subjis : Laccha kulcha, Kesari Paratha, and Naan Changezi. Special Mention to Naan Changezi, this is one of the out of the world bread which has dry-fruits on it and it goes well with TDK Sp Paneer.

Desserts:

Gulab Jamun: Nice, Soft ad big enough to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Kesar Wali Kheer: This was loaded with Dry Fruits and perfectly sweetened.

Shahi Tukda: Crisp Bread slice dipped in a thick Rabdi drizzled with Rose syrup.

Overall…

Its a nice place to have a good food with Dhaba style ambience with punjabi songs playing in background. Service is pretty prompt. Its a Value for money restaurant.

A big Shout out to Karma PR for Invitation and Team TDK for hosting us.

212’s All New Menu – Reviewed

212’s All Day, All New, All Good menu has launched.

On every visit 212 has some surprises stored. This time it was their all New Menu launch, and I was privileged to be invited for the tasting of the same.

Let the journey of New menu begin….

Curried Potato Mille Fieulle: Mille Fieulle is a French pastry whose exact origin is unknown. Its modern form was influenced by improvements of Marie-Antoine Carême. Traditionally, a mille-feuille is made up of three layers of puff pastry (pâte feuilletée), alternating with two layers of pastry cream (crème pâtissière), but sometimes whipped cream or jam are substituted, when substituted with jam this is then called a Bavarian slice. The top pastry layer is dusted with confectioner’s sugar, and sometimes cocoa, pastry crumbs, or pulverized seeds (e.g. roasted almonds). Alternatively the top is glazed with icing or fondant in alternating white (icing) and brown (chocolate) stripes, and combed.
But the at 212 it had a savoury version of it. The three layer of crunchy curried potato served along with veg stew, kokum lassi and coconut-chilli chutney. Veg Stew is the best ever I have had till date. In between layer filling there was mashed Potato and spiced up with Indian spices very similar to Dosa Subji. Nice Innovative way serving. Beautifully plated. although the portion size can be increased.

Eggplant Bruschetta: Eggplant would be so delicious I never thought of it. This dish is absolutely in the list of “not to be missed” The crunchy bruschetta was topped with Eggplant, Brie, Fried onions, to add the little sweetness to overall taste Figs were placed at the end. This was such a beautifully prepared, Hands down to the Chef.

Spicy Emmental Arrancini: These are stuffed rice balls which are coated with bread crumbsand then deep fried. They are usually filled with ragù (meat and tomato sauce), mozzarella, and peas. The name, which is translated as “little orange”, derives from their shape and colour which, after cooking, is reminiscent of an orange.
Arrancini were just had a perfect Crunchiness with Googy Mozzarella Cheese inside. This was served with the Chermoula Mayo.

Poutines:

Kung Fu Fondue: These were the googy-iest of the lot. So much of cheese right from the first bite. With more cheese at the bottom. So don’t forget to keep digging it. But make sure you don’t keep it unattended for a long time as this might turn in to a Soggy one. Szechwan Tofu added some spice to it and cut the cheesy taste.

Avocado & pomelo Salad: It was a freshness overloaded with Arugula, Peanut and Horseradish Dressing topped with some Walnut Chikki to add the crunch. As per my taste buds it was too sweetened.

Trio of Chips & Salsa: There were three types of Nachos Spinach, Beetroot, and Classic. These were served with different flavours of dips, like Sour Cream, Guacamole, Cilantro, Chipotle, Tomato Salsa, and Habanero Salsa. All the dips & salsa were outstanding, in terms flavour and spice levels. The Chef had taken extra efforts to create all these dips.

Burgers and Sandwiches:

Two Mushrooms Burger: This was a monster burger to with crunchy patty along with melted Gruyere Cheese. Its a super meal in itself. It was served with Fries and fresh salad.

Masala Paneer Scramble: Fusion of Indian and English cuisine. It could have been more crisper. The filling was with crispy potatoes and mint spread and served with Raisin Chutney along with Fries and Fresh Salad.

Chettinad Cottage Cheese Pizza: This is one of the innovative recipes from 212 cafe and bar. Paneer Chunks tempered with Mustard and Curry Leaves. Paneer chunks were nicely marinated and tender enough to melt away in your mouth. The cheese played its role of googy-ness and the thin crisp crust was holding strong all drama happening on top of it.

From the Grills:

Green Peas, Baby Potatoes & Celery cake: This was one of the most delicate dish served on the table. The filling was with soft sweet potatoes little spiced up with the celery patties wrapped up in grape leaves which were first steamed and then grilled and served with demi glace sauce. We had to unwrap it to enjoy the delicious stuffing.

Mains:

Truffle, Porcini and Buratta Risotto: This was the most googy and creamy Risotto I ever tasted. 212 has taken the Risotto to the next level and you will be addicted to it from the very first bite. Strong Truffle gave it slightly garlicky with a deep musky aroma while Porcine gave a deep earthy flavor which enhances any dish. Black olives and crispy banana flowers were added to give the risotto a different after taste on the taste buds.

Ultimate Beetroot Gnocchi: Nice colourful and Beautifully plated tender Gnocchi mixed with Spinach, Shallots and for the tangy flavour orange zest was added.

Desserts:

Tiramisu Eclairs: After having such a long list of newly introduced menu, For desserts I have a separate gut!! Mascarpone cheese was soft and Coffee dust gave a different taste to it. Along with some dark chocolate chips and Figs also had their own role to play.

Peanut Butter Pie: Chocolate Ganache Peanut Butter Pastry, served with Vanilla Ice- Cream, Combination of both have Mixed flavours of Sweet Nutty and Chocolaty and made the dessert complete.

A big shout out for Svetlana for invitation and team 212 for Hosting us.

K’s Kitchen- Pune- Reviewed

K’s Kitchen has some interesting things to offer with no added sugar and a variety of salad dressings and sandwich spreads, keeping in mind the taste and convenience factor for the new generation with no compromise on health and quality.

K’s Kitchen is a brain child of Karen Anand and her Sons Param and Sasha. The Factory is located in Pune itself. The whole product range is available in the following cities : Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Coimbatore, Ooty, Pondicherry, Chennai & Kolkata. These yummy products can be ordered through the online sales partners like Amazon.in, Snacked.in, Tastebells.com, Shophop.co.in, Foodmemories.com, and Engrave.in.

I got a chance to try their Singapore Chilli Sauce (125/-) and the WholeGrain Mustard Sauce.(125/-)

First Impression of the Product: Beautifully packed in a glass bottle. The product is visible enough.

Taste: First I tried the Singapore Chilli Sauce in Noddles with fresh vegetables and it turned out to be really good in all the terms, like Taste, Colour, Aroma, and the most important is the spice level. The Thickness of the Sauce is perfect to get mixed up with noddles and give away the taste evenly.

Wholegrain Mustard Spread: The spread is so fresh and had the strong and dominating Pungent taste of Mustard. This was used homemade Bombay style Toast sandwich and this gave a nice twist to the overall taste. I added a cheese slice to tone down the flavour. The only thing you need to keep in mind is while adding it add it cautiously and as per the taste buds because of the Freshness and the purity of the Sauce.

The whole product range can be seen on the

TJ’s Brew Works & Nudo Pizzeria- Reviewed.

wp-image-732430671

I have heard this saying many times “Everyone would be healthier if they didn’t eat junk food”. But if I say now your Junk food has become healthy food… yes you read it right. We have half way in 2017 and TJ’s Brew Works is celebrating its 5th year, this July. The last 5 years have been enriching for TJ’s Brew Works, as it has also been responsible for brewing memories in many lives. In an endeavour to make healthy choices, TJ’s is tweaking and twisting the existing menu to incorporate spent grain dishes, a treasure trove of goodness, nutrition, taste and health. Spent grain is super rich in protein, fibre content and macronutrients.

wp-image-1788673736
TJ Venkateshwaran, fondly known as TJ, founder TJ’s Brew Works and partner Girish Monie met sometime back, and in a casual conversation discovered they shared similar ideologies while they were independently experimenting and innovating with healthy food choices in life. This resulted in a new collaboration where the duo decided to pursue their passions under the same roof with an already established commercial entity at TJ’s Brew Works.

Now Girish takes care of the Kitchen and TJ is taking care of the brewery.
TJ has introduced two new variants of Beer – TJ’s Quin B and TJ’s Buck B, made from super seeds Quinoa and Buckwheat respectively.
TJ’s Brew Works wanted to give a new twist to the way people have always perceived these super foods, by introducing the two new beers that are Belly Good!
Beer per se made from barley is the healthiest alcoholic beverage since it is natural. By replacing some proportions of barley with Quinoa or Buckwheat, the goodness of these seeds and health benefits of these ingredients now augment the beers without taking the essence out of the beer. Sounds healthy right!! And the healthy Saga continues in the food as well.

Nudo Pizzeria-

Nudo Pizzas at TJ’s Brew Works
is another food revolution, with the introduction of Gluten Free, Grain Free and Guilt-Free Pizzas by Nudo Pizzeria Al Naturale, the brainchild of Girish Monie.
Nudo pizzas are made with interesting Superfoods in their 5 Crusts; Almond, Buckwheat, Quinoa, Amaranth and Waterchestnut, Cauliflower and Whey Protein, with unusual sauces such as their Classic Red Tomato Marinara, Roasted Garlic White Sauce and Almond and Pine Nut with Basil – Green Pesto.
From its Signature list; Nude Farm Veg, is a Quinoa Crust Pizza with a Roasted Garlic White Sauce, Nudo Pepperoni, made with Amaranth Crust and Classic Red Tomato Marinara Sauce are some of the Nudo pizzas that are good for you and taste divine. Girish takes immense pleasure to introduce Nudo Pizzeria by giving indepth knowledge of how he achieved the perfect receipe of converting the Pizza as a Healthy pizza. These are some of his view about the same “NUDO lies skin deep. Nudo is a way of life imbibed into a culinary innovation. It roots for foods with innate goodness, stripped of any artificiality whatsoever. We have foregone grains in a bid to make it completely Gluten-Free. Nudo is all about Whole Foods, Real Foods, Super Foods.”

That’s so much of good food yet be eaten!!! Lets try out some of it.

wp-image-649961270
We started the evening with the TJ’s new Brew Quin B and Buck B along with Beer infused Beer Cheese Soup.
I personally like the taste of Buck B more as it was more closer to the beer which gave a slight bitter after taste. As Quin B was on the milder side but it was refreshing in taste.

wp-image-574214506

wp-image-2118671332
Next one was the nice colourful very well plated Russian Olivie Salad-This was with Pineapple, Beetroot, Peas, Sweet Potato and Carrots Yumm!!

Soup: Beer Cheese Soup : Nice Warm and cheesy with a hint of beer flavour. The thickness was also good.

wp-image-1557699603wp-image-69230798

Appetizers:
They served us 2 veg and 2 non-veg Appetizers: Dark Malt Bao and TJ’s Spent Grain Pelmeni- As I earlier mentioned that Spent grain is the residue left over after the liquid is extracted from the malt during the brewing process. This residue is very healthy, super rich in protein, fibre content and a lot of macronutrients… which makes the Bao so delicious, that you just can’t have just one!! nice soft and juicy with Tofu filling inside with the tangy sauce. #Musthave

wp-image-1880837766

wp-image-481257870

wp-image-1027512445

wp-image-2099769806

TJ’s Spent Grain Pelmeni- The Pelmeni are dumplings consisting of a filling wrapped in thin, unleavened dough. Its origin is from Siberia and it has its own variants in different cuisine in nearby countries. The Pelmeni which was served to us was bit greasy and chewy outer cover.

wp-image-1862985701

Main Course:

Mini Burgers (Cottage Cheese)- Burger patty was Juicy with soft and marinated cottage cheese with full of taste. As it was a Mini Burger you could finish at least two of them.

wp-image-1834129185wp-image-1930010696

Spinach Wrap: Came in two variants Crispy Mushroom and Paneer Bhuna. Both the wraps were so beautifully placed on the plate, and they were huge, which is a good portion size for two. Taste wise I found Paneer Bhuna more flavorful. The Contrast color of chunky Paneer and the green wrap stands out the most of all the dishes.

wp-image-626196666

wp-image-1453400702

Pizza: All the pizza crust are healthy and these are made from Buckwheat, Quinoa, Amaranth – Water chestnut, Almond, Cauliflower and Whey Protein. All the crust made on a daily basis and kept frozen. As of now they have 13′ inches pizza, but soon they will be introducing it other sizes as well.

wp-image-750561870wp-image-947617227wp-image-1825654866wp-image-684205519wp-image-1726167186wp-image-1966206154
The Pizza we tried were Buckwheat base Farm Veg, Amaranth Base Not Guilty Pizza, and Quinoa Base Margaritta. All the pizza had a very distinct taste of it own but never missed the White Flour taste, Infact these were more tasty and filling. Many of their toppings were organically grown and imported with a country specific. You can even make your own pizza and choose your toppings like Zucchini, Artichokes, Broccoli, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Red Onions and so on. The guilt free part of the eating these pizza is that they make you full without harming your metabolism.

Desserts:

Caramalt Cookie Sandwich and Nudo Grain Free Brownie: warm and Chewy cookie with Vanilla Ice-cream with Soft and warm Brownie which had natural sweetners added.

wp-image-2054798913

Vegan Masala Pan Kulfi: A innovative dessert tried to replicate the taste of the regular masala pan flavor infused in a Kulfi form which is served on the gulkand stuffed roll of a pan.

wp-image-1918307663

This was the most guilt free food tasting I ever attended.

A big shout out to Svetlana for the Invitation and TJ Venkateshwaran of TJ’s and Girish from Nudo Pizzeria for Hosting us and introducing us to the healthy eating/drinking can be Delicious as well!!!

Sunday Brunch at Teddyboy – Reviewed

Brunch is such an odd thing. It was created by fat, lazy people who were too lazy to wake up at a reasonable hour and too fat to wait until the next proper time for dining.

– Brian South

This sums up the Brunch definition.

Celebrated MasterChef Doyel Sarangi herself calls up and invites #TheBTeam over for a tasting we could resist.

The place has it’s own charm with breath taking view from the rooftop and rain drizzling over feels like it’s a perfect way to spend Sunday with yummylious food and fun loving family and friends.

Coming to the buffet spread, it had delicious starters served on the table with live pasta counter to choose from. Soups and the mains had a good options as well.

Starters included Corn Tikki, Veg. Seekh Kebab, Chicken Dumplings, Fish Koliwada and Chicken Tikka along with assorted Dips and Salads. You should not miss the dips, they were so good, went well with all the starters.

The mains had vegetarian, and Nonveg along with sea food. Khara Veg, Butter Paneer, Massaman Fish Curry and Murgh Dhoba were the options to choose from. To end the mains the Yellow Dal Tadka and Steamed Rice.

Desserts: Strawberry Cheesecake and Cream Strawberry Boulabaise and Churros with Chocolate Sauce. The churros dissappointed us, hard and chewy.

The Sunday Brunch is on from 12:00 noon to 3:30 PM and has the following packages: Rs. 599++ for Food & Mocktails.

Big Shout out to Chef Doyel for invitation and team Teddyboy for hosting us.
