IceKraft- Lets paint the town Black

Mumbai based brand has setup three outlets in Pune. IceKraft, crafting happiness is known for their Gothic black ice cream. The goth culture is now reflected in the ice creams as well. So all the black lovers Ice Kraft is where you would definitely like to visit. Know that when you have the black charcoal ice cream you’re in for a surprise because the ice cream is black but has a hint of the orange flavour which only works in the favour of it.

IceKraft’s Black magic is spreading fast among the foodies and the youngsters. This is one of the very unique ice-cream which has activated edible charcoal in it. Along with Ice-cream they have lot many thing to offer, like Nutella Freaky shake, waffles, pancakes, fries, different types of corn based dishes, some healthy salads and sandwiches. So its a one stop destination for the all the age group.

The B Team was invited for the tasting some of their Snacks and the of-course the Black Ice Cream.

The Hurricane Fries: Its a Twisted/tornado Potato fried and drizzled with flavour of your liking which are mentioned in the menu. It was nice and crisp till the end.

Zucchini Fries: Crunchy with soft steamed zucchini inside sprinkled with their secret spices. Something really hard to find in a regular cafes.

Sweet Potato Fries: It had sweet and spicy taste to it which made this stand out from the regular masala fries.

Crinkle Cut Fries: Nice big chunky pieces with the similar masala sprinkled on it which was on the sweet potato fries, this made bit difficult to differentiate between the both. Although you have different option of sprinkles to choose from like Herbed, Paprika, Cheesy, Chaat and Pepper.

Steamed Corn with Pepper: This was the taste changer dish from the course which was served till now. Hot and spiced up with Pepper golden corns tossed with butter.

Desserts:

Coffee based Absolute Chocolate Freak Shake: This had a coffee base, Oreo, Nutella, brownies, choco-chips and hot fudge, it was one of the messy shake I have ever eaten. Once it is placed on your table you should stop counting your calories intake. This was really nice in taste, but mind it, you will have to share it!!! Its huge!!

Chocolate Pancake: Moving on to a much decent and well plated item from the menu was this Pancake. Nice hot pancake is soaked in Chocolate syrup.

Waffle with Black Ice Cream: This was out of the menu. generally they serve it with the regular waffle but just for us the owner wanted us to try it out and give the feedback. As the waffle was hot the Ice cream was melting and it got messy by the time we tried to capture some amazing pictures.

Black Monster: This was as usual the star of the evening, Black Waffle cone with steel grey with Activated Charcoal Ice-cream with some shredded Choco-chips sprinkled on it. Wow this the first expression come in when the ice-cream was served. There was bee line for capturing the best picture of it. It altogether a different experience to have it. It was perfectly sweetened and had a very earthy taste to it.

A big shout out to Ishita for inviting us and Mohit and Team Icekraft for hosting us.

The Taste of South India Food Festival at Courtyard by Marriott Chakan – Festival ReviewΒ

Attending any food festival is a journey which take you on the journey of culture and especially when it’s a cuisine specific.

On the recent invite of Courtyard Marriott Chakan for their ongoing Food Festival “The Taste of South India”.

Chef Satish Reddy has huge experience stored back in his kitchen and he has traveled the globe for his passion of food and profession. He briefed us with the food festival and how it is close to his heart. He also informed that how well in advance the preparation for this festival had began right from choosing and procuring the spices from southern part of the country.

Some of Chef Sathish signature dishes like Mutton Chops Masala, Nandu Chettinadu, Malabar Paratha with Korma, Vazhaipoo Vada, Chepala Pulusu, Semiya Payasam and much more.

The buffet spread was huge, some out of which are #MustHave like Vegetable Poriyal: Finely chopped vegatables are then stir-fried until it is cooked and tossed with a generous amount of fresh grated coconut.

Podi Idlis: Again rich in aroma of mix of freshly grounded spices on soft Idlis makes this dish a good appetizer.

Podi Idli salad: This was something nice and unique. It was cold salad but tangy and bit spicy in taste and tempered with loads of mustard seeds.

Yogurt marinated chick pea salad: Mild marination of yogurt and garnished with freshly grated coconut and tempering of curry leaves mustard seeds.

In Mains:

Kai Nilgiri Korma: Nice fresh green in colour gravy with assorted vegetables roughly the chopped. The gravy was thick enough and goes well with Malabar Paratha.

Vegetable Stew or Avial with Appam: Avial was good in taste with enough of vegetables, but if the consistency can be rectified then this will be great combo. Appam was soft and feather thin.

Rasam: As Chef rightly mentioned that Rasam has very different recipes from every South Indian kitchen. Still he has tried to improvise and come to final recipe. Rasam was strong in flavour Tamarind and freshly grounded spices. I like to rasam with Bisi Bele Bath.

Bisi bele bath: It’s  rice-based dish with origins in the state of Karnataka, India. Bisi bele bhaath translates to ‘hot lentil rice’ in the Kannada language. Richful flavours along with a hint of tamarind, not too tangy not too spicy. Perfect in taste.

Desserts: They had good variety of dessert to choose from. I tried their Semolina Halwa: It was prepared in Ghee along with some dry fruits. Not too sweet perfect for my palate.

Mysore Pak: Most of the South Indian desserts are prepared in Ghee, even this one was made with ghee and it was porous enough.

These myriad range of dishes will surely tantalize your taste buds and give you an authentic taste of #SouthIndia.

The South Indian food festival will be there till 16th June. And it will cost 1000++ taxes.

212 Junior – Why should Mommy and Daddy should have all the fun!!Β

Why Parents should have all the fun!!! Especially when parents take their kids for shopping in a mall and they have nothing to do other then wait and get bored or otherwise either of the parent has to take care of the kids and other goes for shopping. Being a father of two daughters I face this kind of situation very often.

Kids get dragged in all this shopping spree. But now it has a solution where kids can enjoy their activity while either of the parent can relax, keep a watch while sipping a coffee or fresh juice. This sounds so good plan!

212 All day cafe has come up with ‘212 Junior’ with a  concept, We were invited for the launch of 212 Junior along with my Daughters Samia (10 yes old) and Syna (4.5yrs old) For further details read ahead:

The kid-friendly cafΓ© with a seating capacity of 40 guests, is located at the atrium of Lower Ground floor and doubles up as a haven for parents and an entertainment zone for their juniors. It’s the ideal spot for a quick meal after a family shopping session or a full-of- drama movie.

HOW WAS 212 JUNIOR CONCEPTUALIZED?

Talking about the concept, Romil Ratra, Group Director says, β€œA cafΓ© with an in-built kids area is a concept that is quite popular in the west and is slowly picking up momentum in Asian countries as well. When it comes to India, this segment is still being explored. After a careful study of the footfalls in the mall and an in-depth market research, we conceptualized this one-of-its kind space in Pune which is not only appreciated by the adults but also by kids. The philosophy is simple: Treat kids as adults. Give them their space and let them enjoy while you enjoy solitude. The best part is, you don’t have to break a sweat running behind your kid.”
Gone are the days when kids used to let parents dictate their food preferences. In an era where Nickelodeon is replaced by PlayStation, the little ones like to have control over what they’re eating. Chef Paul Kinny has curated a menu that will appeal to not just the little one but also adults. The food at 212 Junior goes hand in hand with the philosophy as well as space – simple yet vibrant & colorful.

The menu features cookies, croissants and donuts right out of the bakery. Yes, you can expect the addictive fragrance of freshly baked items! Chef Paul has also added a Choco-Berry Cronut – An innovative combination that came into the world when a donut married a croissant. The savory section features cheesy pizza squares, stuffed croissants, loaded hot dogs and more. One of it deserves a special mention and that’s the Pokemon Burger made using a chicken patty, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. It’s shaped like your kid’s favorite Pokemon – Pikachu. 212 Junior completely gets every ones love for the sugar rush and that is evident by their dessert menu which includes S’mores Sandwich – two gooey choco cookies filled with marshmallows and almonds, a colorful Rainbow Cake, an Γ©clair with a tiramisu center and much more.

BEVERAGES AT 212 Junior
From healthy smoothies to indulgent milkshakes, 212 Junior has it all. Going to a restaurant with a kid is not everyone’s cup of tea but at 212 Junior it can be your cup of tea as well as your cup of coffee. Now parents can sit and enjoy their cup of solitude while their kids are occupied with some brain-stimulating games and puzzles in the kid section made especially for them.

WHAT CAN ONE EXPECT AT 212 JUNIOR?

212 Junior understands the importance of family time. Staying true to the brand’s philosophy, the venue will organize events which does not only cater to kids but also to adults. Now while your kid is making best out of waste you can learn origami. While your kid attends an Enid Blyton book reading, you can simultaneously attend a book reading of well-known Indian authors. 212 Junior will also be organizing events where both the parents and the kids can participate together; Cook with your dad, 212 quiz contest etc.

My Daughters experience with the overall concept of 212 Junior:

Samia says that it was fun filled experience right from moment we entered, we started with our Hair Braiding, and then the most enjoyable activity was the Canvas Painting. We like the food as well, as it was yummy and served in an attractive way”. Syna liked her drawings and as well some finger licking Donuts. She had a good time while getting herself a nice Tattoo very similar to her mom.

Overall it was a chilled out time for the father and daughters.

Thank you #carpediempune for the invite.
